Ekaterinburg. It is expected, that over 500 athletes from 37 National Federations - members of
the European Sambo Federation will participate in the European Sambo Championship, which
will be held in Ekaterinburg in 2020. This was announced at the organizing committee meeting
for the preparation and holding of the World Championship, which was held by the First Deputy
Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Alexey Orlov, - reports the Governor’s information policy
department.
“I am sure that the European Sambo Championship will be a bright sport event in 2020. It has a
big importance for increasing the international recognition of the region and its high reputation
as a reputable sports center. Our region already has extensive experience in organizing large-
scale international sports events. Therefore, our common task is to do everything possible to
ensure that the championship will be held at the highest organizational level”, - said Alexey
Orlov.
The championship will be held at the Palace of Sports in Ekaterinburg from May 21 to May 25,
2020.
Members of the organizing committee discussed security issues, medical support of the
competition. Special attention was paid to the idea of attracting Russian and foreign fans of this
sport as spectators. Elmira Tukanova, Director of the Regional Center for Tourism Development said that the European Sambo Championship would be included in the region event
calendar 2020. Booklets about the Ural places of interests will be produced for the guests of the
event.
Vladimir Beloglazov, Director for General Affairs of OJSC UMMC, Head of the Executive Directorate for the European Sambo Championship 2020 said that 150 volunteers will be involved for coordination of participants of the Championship. According to his words, an account on Instagram devoted to the competition has already been created.
