How to get to the venue?
It is most convenient for guests from cities of Russia and foreign countries to travel to Ekaterinburg by air. Koltsovo Airport, the international airport of Ekaterinburg, is located 16 kilometers southeast of the city center. Today it is one of the largest regional airports in Russia. More than 45 Russian and international airlines service flights to more than 120 destinations. You can find the flight schedule and book tickets on the official website of the airport.
You can get from Koltsovo International Airport to the city center either by taxi (the average price of the trip will be about 350 rubles or 4.3 euro) or by public transport: by bus number 1 (28 rubles per trip - 0.35 euro) or minibus number 01 (100 rubles per trip - 1.25 euros). The average travel time will be from 45 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. Also the city train "Express Koltsovo" (fare from 15 to 60 rubles - no more than 0.8 euros) connects airport and main railway station. All these kinds of transport will take you to the main railway station and subway station “Uralskaya”, from where it is very convenient to get to the venue of the competition - the Sports Palace (3 Olympiyskaya Embankment). You can go one subway stop to the station “Dynamo”, or walk on foot, the road will take no more than 10-15 minutes. See the map for more details.
There are four types of public transport in Ekaterinburg: subway, bus (minibus), tram and trolley-bus. The subway fare is 32 rubles (about 0.46 euros), fare for other means of transport is 28 rubles (about 0.4 euros).
Sevastyanov’s House
The Palace of Sports, where the bouts of the European Sambo Championship 2020 will take place, is very conveniently located in the central part of the city, a few steps away from the "Dinamo" subway station. If you go one stop to the "1905 square" station, you will get in the center of the city, where starts the Vainera Street, the main pedestrian street of Ekaterinburg. But it is better to walk from the DIVS to the center on foot along the embankment of the city pond. The way will take no more than 15 minutes, but as a benefit, you will see several significant sights of Ekaterinburg.
The first is a beautiful building of an unusual green-white-red color, located on the left side of the embankment - Sevastyanov’s House. An architectural masterpiece of the 19th century, neo-gothic details with baroque elements are superimposed on the classic base. It is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of Federal significance. Since 2009, it has been the residence of the President of the Russian Federation in Ekaterinburg.
Church on the Blood
Going forward to the underground or pedestrian crossing we cross the main street of Ekaterinburg - Lenina Avenue and get to the "Plotinka", a place familiar to every resident of the city for numerous public festivals and holidays. In the 1720s, the construction of a dam on the Iset River marked the beginning of the construction of the plant, and then the city. Now this hydraulic engineering structure is decorative, but the Historical Square, one of the most famous sights of the city where the dam is situated, still has separate buildings and elements of those times. Today, in several buildings of the former factory, there is a museum of the architect history and industrial engeneering of the Urals. Nearby there is an old water tower, built at the end of the 19th century from stone and wood. By the way, since 2018, the guest center of Yekaterinburg has been located on the first floor of the tower: here you can buy a “Guest Card” (CityPass), which provides free access to excursions and galleries, as well as discounts and bonuses for visiting cafes, restaurants, theaters, hotel accommodation and etc. Here, on Labor Square, you can pay tribute to the founders of Ekaterinburg - Vasily Tatishchev and Wilhelm de Gennin, whose monument was unveiled in 1998, in honor of the 285th anniversary of the city.
"Plotinka"
If you turn left from the DIVS along the embankment towards Karla-Liebknechta Street and go further around five hundred meters, a beautiful view of the majestic Church on the Blood will open to your eyes. It was built on the spot where the family of the last Russian Tsar Nikolay II was executed.
For those who want to get acquainted with the historical center of Ekaterinburg in more details, we suggest to use the "red line" volunteer project, which will help you make a 6.5 km walking route within 2-3 hours. During this time, you can admire the most interesting sights of Ekaterinburg - about 35 objects in total, from monuments and merchant estates to streets and squares.

Citizens of Ekaterinburg adore mayonnaise. According to some sources, the city ranks first in the world in terms of per capita consumption of this product. They say the secret of the special taste of local mayonnaise is the proportions of mustard added to it. Yes, this is not the most healthy product, but it is still worth a try at least once in a lifetime. Moreover, with the Ural dumplings.
