The Russian National Sambo Championship among young men and women under the age of 18 ended in Ekaterinburg. For five days, more than 700 of the country's strongest athletes competed for the tournament awards.
According to the results of the All-Russian competitions dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory, the Moscow national team excelled in the team classification among young men. The team of the Sverdlovsk region won the second place. The team of the Chuvash Republic won bronze medals. The teams of the same regions became prize-winners in girls’ teams competitions.
In the individual championship, there are three champions in the team of the Sverdlovsk region. They are citizens of Ekaterinburg Germans Sorokin (in the weight category up to 52 kilograms), Ivan Lukanin (up to 75 kilograms) and Roman Zheltov (in weight up to 87 kilograms).
Silver awards were won by Ilya Kiryukhin (weight category up to 60 kilograms) and Bulud Safarov (over 87 kilograms).
Two wrestlers from Ekaterinburg Eldar Gadzhiev (up to 65 kilograms) and Alexander Kanatchikov (up to 87 kilograms) became the bronze medalists of the Russian Junior Championship.
Among the girls, there are four champions - Victoria Voronova (up to 65 kilograms) Daria Rechkalova (up to 70 kilograms), Olga Mikheeva (over 75 kilograms) and Kristina Dudina (up to 48 kilograms). All girls are from Ekaterinburg.
Also, the girls Ekaterina Safronova (up to 44 kilograms) and Daria Rusakova (up to 52 kilograms), natives of the Ural capital, won "bronze".
According to the terms of the competition, the athletes who won the gold medals will go to the World Junior Sambo Championship in Serbia, and the silver medalists will go to the European Junior Championship in Bulgaria.
P.S. on May 21-25, 2020 the "adult" European Sambo Championship will be held in the Ural capital for the first time in history.
