From February 28 to March 1, the Russian Sambo Championship will be held in Cheboksary (Chuvashia). it will determine the roster of the National Team for participation in the European Championship in Ekaterinburg. In order to represent our country in the Ural capital in May, athletes need to win silver medals, and the winners will participate in the World Championships in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) in November.
Representatives of the Sverdlovsk region have good chances to compete for the right to participate at the home European Championship. They left for Cheboksary with an impressive delegation of almost 70 people. The largest number of athletes, over 40, will compete in the men's sports sambo tournament, 80% of them represent sambo club UMMC from Verkhnaya Pyshma. For three weeks they have been training for the country's main tournament at the sport campus "Granatovaya Buhta" near Verkhnaya Sysert.
In addition, it is expected that 16 Sverdlovsk women will participate in the women's tournament, another 8 of our compatriots will compete for medals in combat sambo.
