From the 28 of February to the 1st of March 2020 in Cheboksary was held the Russian Sambo Championship that determined the future national participants of the European Sambo championship in May 2020 in Ekaterinburg. To go to the capital of Urals the contenders needed to win silver medals. The winners got chance to go to the World Sambo Championships in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) in November 2020.
